Kewin Lan's User Experience Research Portfolio

Would you like to improve your understanding of your users? Discover the impact of insight from someone with a deep understanding of UX research. As someone with a curiosity for human behaviour, I combine my research skills (user interviews, competitive analysis, A/B testing) with my history of technical skills (web development, VFX, and motion design) to create the best possible experience for your users.

Case Studies

EventConnect™

Screenshot of EventConnect™'s registration dashboard, with the hypothetical user's profile shown on the left and the registration steps on the right. The user has finished the tasks, so green checkmarks are shown next to each task.

My classmates and I collaborated on redesigning the EventConnect™ registration system as part of a 3-month internship. We took already existing research, brainstormed various designs, then tested our designs with usability testing.

Pulpy Seed

Screenshot of 2 mobile phones tilted sideways. The phones have the Pulpy Seed homepage on them. The phone on the left is the older design with a brown soil textured background for the header, and the phone on the right has the redesign with a green leaf textured background for the header.

Usability tests with 3 people indicated that the brown soil header does not align with the brand. Changing it to a green leaf texture matches more with brand values.

This juice app allows users to customize their juice.

Neighborhood Comet

Screenshot of 3 mobile phones tilted sideways. The phone on the left has the "lesson" page where users can learn about astronomy. This page shows a nebula. The phone in the center is the stargazing section, and the star named "Betelgeuse" is selected, with text explaining to the user what it is. The phone on the right is the score page, showing a graph with points rising over time.

Usability tests with 3 potential users revealed a concern about competing with more experienced users. I creating a league system to solve this.

In this gamified stargazing app, users can score points by finding celestial objects in the sky.
